Workshops:
I love teaching workshops - I've taught many, ranging from beginner-level ring-making to advanced mechanism classes, and I'm always happy to come teach in your school or studio. Below are descriptions of some of two of my most popular current workshops. For a full list of workshops I've taught in the past, please see my CV. Contact me if you're interested!
Tab-Constructed Enameled Vessels
In this workshop, students will learn the basics of metal manipulation, design, and color theory by creating colorful, enameled metal vessels. By using precise measuring and layout techniques, paper models, and a jeweler’s saw, participants will create a variety of volumetric metal forms. These forms will then be coated in vitreous enamel and kiln-fired, resulting in a chromatic array of fun, experimental vessels.
Skill Level: Beginner
Duration: 2-3 days
Springs and Mechanisms
Springs can be used to add dramatic movement and satisfying functionality to jewelry and small metalwork of all sorts. In this technical workshop, you will create a variety of spring-based sample mechanisms, ranging from functional catches for jewelry to tiny toys and spring-loaded containers. In the process, you’ll learn about different types of springs, their corresponding functions, and how to incorporate them into your work.
Skill Level: Intermediate to advanced
Duration: 3-5 days

About me:
Originally from Wyoming, I received my BFA from the University of Wyoming, and my MFA from Edinboro University of Pennsylvania. Against my own best interests, I refuse to make just one type of artwork. Instead, I make many types, crossing boundaries between ideas, formats, and techniques. In the aggregate, these sometimes wildly disparate works form a cobblestone portrait of my true self - the analytical me, the poetic me, and the absurd me.
